Joy Frempong is a singer and composer whose music skilfully and innovatively connects different worlds from urban Africa to urban Europe, from electronic, jazz and pop and African vibes to storytelling.
As Duo OY she has been touring internationally for 10 years on all continents. With her songs and stories, she uncovers new perspectives and inspires thought-provoking visionary ideas. For the theme ‘Good News From Africa’, she travelled through 7 African countries to collect stories and field recordings and create musical messages from them. Currently, she has expanded the Africa/African Diaspora theme to global migration issues and transposed them into a future vision, SpaceDiaspora.
As a citizen of the world who moved from Ghana to Switzerland in 1986 and lives in the cultural metropolis of Berlin for 10 years, she has first-hand knowledge of urbanization and migration issues.
As an international artist who always walks on the pulse of time, she knows about the importance of urban culture and creativity to develop new and innovative projects that aim to bring different worlds together.
